ABSTRACTION

Surabaya Rock Music School is a place or non-formal education facility functioning in introducing and preparing rock musician in Surabaya until ready to exist in National music world.

By bringing “Rocky” theme, Rocky or which is most known as Rock Progressive a development from rock genre which is having more complex beat and tempo and also has fiercer performance. Background of taking “rocky” as planning theme is because rocky music has unique characteristic and fiercer to perform as Surabaya Rock Music School’s building theme. It is expected that this Surabaya Rock Music School can express rocky music its own. Rocky music characteristic can be seen directly or indirectly in the building exterior and interior.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The specialty of this planning creation is the site that uses home-store complex site. The planning tries to give some breakthrough that is solution to solve problem: home-store complex which is flooding the Surabaya City site. And what interesting in here is although there was much limitation, but in the end, the planning result can support studying activity and managerial work which is available on general College or Institute.

 

THEME AND PLANNING CONCEPT

THEME STUDY

Theme used in here is rocky (“Cadas” – in Indonesian). Rocky or which more known as Rocky Progressive is a development from rock genre that has more in beat and tempo complexity and also has fiercer performance.

Background of taking “rocky” as planning theme was because rocky music has unique characteristic and fiercer to perform as Rock Music School is there.

It is expected that this Surabaya Rock Music School can express rocky music its own. It is mean that rocky music characteristic can be seen directly or indirectly in the building exterior and interior.

 

THEORIES PROVIDE THE BASIS FOR THEME

According to Bruce Firbaim in “History of Rock and Roll” book:

“Sound which created on purpose with specified frequent and contain rhythm”

According to “New Book of Knowledge”

Music may define as the organizing sound and silences into meaningful patterns. The word “music” comes from “muse” the name of goodness of ancient Greek mythology who presided over the art and the sciences. Music is the one of the oldest of the art. No civilization in history has been without some form of music.

According to Indonesian Great Dictionary:

“Tones which is manage specifically so that contains rhythm, song and harmony (especially which is using instruments that can produce those sounds)

PLANNING CONCEPT

Concept which is used as planning concept takes song as case study as approximation to design concept: Song that used is a song of “system of down” title “BYOB”. By note elements that create the song.

Substances which used as planning concept creator were:

a. Tempo

b. Tone

c. Expression of Instrument
